Little Egg Harbor Library To Offer Hula Dance Training

May 01, 2017

LITTLE EGG HARBOR - Are you ready to learn the art of Hula dancing? The Ocean County Library will host “Hawaiian Hula, Stories and Craft” at the Little Egg Harbor Branch, 290 Mathistown Rd., 6 p.m. Thursday, May 11.

Instructor Donna Majchrzak will teach the finer points of traditional Hula and Hukilau dances. She will also teach the lyrics to Hawaiian songs as participants follow along with an instructional video followed by a Hawaiian themed craft.

Majchrzak learned the art of Hula dance and movement in Hawaii at the Polynesian Cultural Center on the island of Oahu. She will explain Hawaiian culture and how the Hula is one of its most beloved and cherished cultural traditions that continues to influence new generations.

Refreshments will be available courtesy of the Friends of the Little Egg Harbor Township Branch of the Ocean County Library.

Bring your beach towel and wear socks for dancing. Feel free to dress in Hawaiian clothing such as grass skirts and leis.

This family program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register call the branch at 609-294-1197 or visit www.theoceancountylibrary.org and click on “Calendar of Events.”
