Ocean County Library Hosts Holocaust Lecture Series

LONG BEACH ISLAND – Professor Ken Konchan will host his annual lecture series at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 11 at the Long Beach Island Branch, 217 S. Central Ave.,Surf City with a presentation of the documentary, “The Unimaginable Journey of Peter Ertel.”

The documentary focuses on a German forced into Hitler’s army, who helps rebuild his country after the war. After living in a POW camp in the U.S., he gets a job in a Jewish-owned company in Cleveland, where he is treated “like family.”

The second part of Konchan’s lecture series will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 when he will discuss the variety of paths taken by Holocaust survivors after the war ended.

Both programs are being sponsored by the Friends of the Island Library.
